This is not a beginner book on jewelry making, although the basics are discussed in the back, but rather a focus on natural stones, which are commonly used in modern jewelry designs. I must admit I’m biased because of my experience in geology and my own designs with natural precious stones, and even joint. This book appealed to me for this reason but also in how the stones are minimal, but adequate information on the hardness of the stones, discussing their common sources and interesting facts. . . Non-geologists can understand so easily, the stones and its beauty. The designs are wonderful (some remind me of my own!), But also into account that natural stone is often harder than glass, crystal and glass beads. Why not pull on the earlobe earring designs – a common mistake by some jewelry designs. The combination of stones in various designs are a sight to behold, and opened my eyes to have even more interested in beautiful color / stone combinations that can be developed by me and other artists in the use of natural gemstones for their own jewelry designs. Sun BRAVO to the writers for creating this wonderful book of unique designs.

Create Jewelry: Stones is the latest offering in the Interweave Press series to create jewelry. Like the other books in the series, it is a wonderfully photographed book with simple projects. The focus is explained in this one stone.
The introduction of stone foundations, the hardness scale, the difference between semi-precious and precious stones, and has a beautiful full color list of many common stones in bead embroidery, then it goes in the projects.
The projects are simple, and many of them have really beautiful beads, you will not find at your local bead shop. Do not worry, it’s created a really good resource list at the back of the book, so you can use the beads of the authors. Most of the projects are curious, though some of them have bead weaving as accents. I love the earth and sky earrings. The inspiration to try something similar.
The projects are, as I said, simple but they are beautiful. Multi Bracelets beach, instructions for wrapping Briolettes and ideas for the use of drilled stone center flowers. They are a beautiful blend of very fine to chunky designs, there is something here for everyone portable.
As much as I like the projects and the introduction of this series is my favorite part of these books the little “Did you “pages with pictures of amazing historical uses of the subject and the story about them. I think I would love a book just from all these beautiful ornamental pieces of trivia.
If you are looking for a book with complicated ideas, and that will teach you techniques, these are not books for you, but if you enjoy stringing, and want information and inspiration for color combinations and ideas for bracelets and necklaces multi beach, these books are beautiful and a good basis.

Having just started making jewelry, I decided to make everything, my time is worth by using high quality materials and results. This book is a guide for semi-precious stones, which is interesting and helpful. I want to know what to buy show at our next local bead. There are some very nice projects in this book. I also create their own jewelry: pearls. Would both books for anyone interested in turning our quality jewelry is recommended.

This book was breathtaking photos of the jewelry pieces, but little information to make useful the examples were shown. They told the reader the materials and ideas for using the materials, but not completely. I am an experienced jewelry maker, but could not duplicate the examples.
