The first edition of Janet printer Georg Jensen: A Tradition of Splendid Silver was not published until four years ago, in 1997. Now, only a few breaths later, will be a revised and expanded second edition with an updated guide. Given the impressive wealth of the first edition, you might say, “So soon?” The first edition went out of print, but it would be more usual in this remove, so it has Reproduction without revisions. The reasons are not very clear at first glance, the jacket design (and the jacket copywriting) has hardly changed, the general organization and graphic design of the first edition have been retained in the second, and the number of pages is about the same. When you sit down with both editions, and starts them side by side to compare the differences quickly become apparent. A very large amount of new material has been included in the new book, including 250 new images and expanded Archival Information about the production and design. Since the publication of the first edition, so much material not previously come to light that their inclusion seemed greatest.
Regardless of how long and full one has worked on a research project in art, as soon as we published more material, which is often very interesting material, in response to the publication. A study on the second round of confirmations suggests that the beauty and the inclusion of the first edition of the Suthor brought new contacts with other dealers, collectors, curators, auctioneers and other professionals, each of which is a wonderful thing to add to the story.
In the case of new photographs in the second edition, turned many previously not found on Jensen pieces. Some pieces in the first edition only in a rather gloomy old catalog or magazine photos were shown for the new photographs are available. More historical photos surfaced as well. The net profit of the images in the new book is (by my count) a little more than two hundred color and black and white images in total. That the new addition is physically about the same size as the old one thanks to a careful revision of the layout has to perhaps half the pages in the book. It was enough “air” (unused white space) to accommodate the basic design of the pages of text for the first edition to many more photos in the second edition without choking the graceful design of the book.
One of the main innovations of the second edition is also easily overlooked in a casual inspection, and it will prove very useful to collectors and dealers in the understanding Jensen product. The captions are now included in all Jensen Design numbers that were stamped on their jewelry and hollow ware, together with the trademarks and other marks on the back and underside of the pieces (only some of them were the author of the first edition) All Jensen jewelry and hollowware items have been tagged to with the exception of special units, and much of the earliest cutlery was also marked in this way. As in the first output is a detailed explanation of the grading system in the vicinity of the end of the book. Other important additions to the book are easily recognizable. This includes full reprints of the Jensen flatware illustrated catalogs for the Cactus (flatware pattern 30) and Acorn (flatware pattern 62) samples and for the so-called “Unique Serving Pieces.” These include seventy-two ornamental Serving in a variety of numbered pattern does not match the full-line flatware patterns. The new edition contains, moreover, both chronologically and production data for all the sterling silver designs by Henning Koppel, produced for the company Jensen. The price reference guide was also updated. This guide is not based on opinion, but consists of actual auction results from sales in the great American and British firms in the last decade.
Since the first edition was before the public demand for the book sale had lain down, would have been welcome a new edition have enough. Both the author and the publisher for producing this important and valuable place revised and expanded second edition compliment. I am glad that for owners of the first edition together with the ever-growing group of collectors of Jensen “estate” silver, which were unable to recommend any of their original titles.

not a dry tome, crackling with ennui, offers this book is a treatise at once on a readable Jensen AMD reference as well. Printer provides the volume by Jensen’s ascendancy in prospective. Not accounting for another long series of pictures scattered collection of catalogs, it leads the reader to Jensen’s life story written in a good and very readable text. Further, the collector’s heart rejoice: the litany of his performance.
